A few patient testimonials...
For 5 years I struggled with testical pain off and on. A urologist performed two cord blocks of steroids in an attempt to correct the pain to no avail. It was so confusing to understand why this was happening to me. In discussing with serveral doctors there seemed to be no logical explanation. Then I saw a specialist Dr. Smith in San Francisco at UCSF and he recommended pelvic floor physical therapy/massage. Brande Moffatt came highly recommended in our area by my local doctor.
After 6 months of treatment and education from her I discovered that the main source of my pain was from the muscles in the pelvic floor and in my inner thigh muscle. Using Brande’s techniques I have been able to eliminate most of the pain. On occasions the pain comes back and with about 20 min of her prescribed exercises and 90% of the pain leaves. So very grateful. ( FYI Doing the home exercises she prescribed was a huge part of my success)
Was difficult to want to see a women with the problem that I have. But Brande was completely professional and really engaged with helping me get better. She really put me at ease once I met her.
If you have this problem, you can’t afford not to see her and get relief.
Thank you Brande for your expertise that was so extremely helpful for me. I have a much better life now!

Brande and Lisa,
Thank you so much for the care and treatment you have provided these past 6 months. I cringe to remember my condition when I started therapy. I could not even get on all fours, understand how to cognizantly breathe in and out by expanding my lungs/diaphragm, or get my brain to understand I had any pelvic muscles. I really have come a long way. Please allow me to thank you for all of your support and listening ears. My quality of life has significantly changed because of your care.

I will be forever grateful that I was referred by my physician to Brande Moffatt, MPT, PRPC, at Women’s Health Physical Therapy. The subject of pelvic floor dysfunction seemed very scary. Until I read a book my physician recommended and then entered her office, I did not even know what the words meant, and what I read made me nervous. Brande made me feel comfortable and safe. She is very knowledgeable and went slowly through explanations and answered all of my questions. She has a model and/or a picture for everything! She tailored the appointments to my pace, my comfort level. Her patience is phenomenal. I was sent to her for pelvic floor dysfunction, but ended up learning not only about that, but about better bowel habits, better posture, and she even helped my sex life! Thanks you Brande, and thank you Lisa, for making my experience at Women’s Health Physical Therapy one that will help me for the rest of my life. It is too bad that many physicians have yet to become aware of the importance of the pelvic floor in dealing with women’s issues. I feel that every women would benefit from being treated at Women’s Health Physical Therapy.

I have been a patient of Brande's for just about a year since being referred there by my gynecologist. I was going through some very difficult hormonal treatments for endometriosis and it caused very severe trauma to every area associated with being a female. I was so skeptical since I have been passed from dr to dr for years, but Brande immediately proved me wrong. She's so kind and personable; you want to be her best friend! She makes you feel so comfortable which is welcomed in a sometimes uncomfortable situation. She genuinely cares about your needs not only as a patient, but personally as well. I still have a ways to go before I'm 100%, but I've made huge strides through my work with Brande. I couldn't be more grateful that she's entered my life as a trusted therapist and friend.

Where do I begin? I went to Brande in Dec 2011 because I had a lot of issues with vaginal insertion and could not get through a papsmear without having a panic attack filled with crying, clenching and pure misery. At the time I went to see Brande I was 19 and had never used a tampon, again because of my issue with insertion. (This issue stems back to when I was 3 after a bad bladder infection at the hospital that forever scarred me)....Brande changed my entire life!! I was referred to her by my OBGYN and usually it takes months to get an appt with Brande. I explained to her that I would only be in Redding for about 5 weeks for XMAS because I was home from Sac State. She immediately made me an appt and I saw her 3-4 times a week for about 4 weeks. She changed my life!! After much therapy I was able to use a tampon, had a much better time with papsmears, etc. She was so loving, caring, knowledgeable, helpful...just great! - Anonymous
Brande, I just wanted to say thank you so much for teaching me but also giving me books and tools to educate myself. What you have done for me has been incredible!
You have been the most safest person to talk to for navigating my situation. Thank you for your kindness and sensitivity!
Because of you I feel more confident in my body and mentally sound in knowing it's step by step to conquering the fear that was holding me back.
I'm such a fan and brag lots about you and your work!
You are amazing!

I really appreciate the work that Brande does and the energy that she brings to it. Her focused presence was a true gift. I haven’t run into too many heath care professionals that I would recommend whole-heartedly, but Brande is the exception. I am so grateful for the work that she does for women.

As a male who was experiencing years of pain inside with specialist after specialist who didn't know how to help me it changed my life to find Brande. I want to express my sincere gratitude and happiest thanks for changing what was supposed to be "just dealing with the pain" into something manageable and actually rectifiable without medication. I think the biggest surprise was finding out how I had incorporated a lifetime of bad habits into everyday routines such as how I work out at the gym to as simple as how I go to the bathroom, habits that I would have never known were bad without finding someone who is as personable as Brande to make me comfortable enough to talk to who also had the knowledge to help me. Experiencing what it's like to actually have the tools to fix my pain also helped lower my daily stress level. Instead of dealing with the stress of not knowing when my next flare-up would happen, I am able to focus on living my life. So thank you!

Hi Brande,
I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am that Jana Pratt, PA-C referred me to you. I can't believe how much of a difference those few therapy sessions have made in my life!! I managed to catch the awful cold (crud) that has been going around, and your therapy has made ALL the difference. I'm in my second week of coughing and sneezing, and I do mean coughing (that bone jarring deep cough) and not one drop! I am just amazed!! Normally there would have been puddles. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! I'm just thrilled, and I'm letting my friends know that help is available for incontinence.
You are a God send. Hugs to you and Lisa.

Just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you so much for your patient and knowledgeable help with my pelvic floor issues. I have to admit I was skeptical when I was referred to you by my gynecologist. I have been to other PT’s for my lower back pain that never did much to help, and I didn’t see what good a pelvic floor specialist could do. Boy was I wrong! I only had 4 sessions, but what a difference. The lower back pain that I struggled with for 8 months is gone, and I have been so surprised to find out that it doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to make a huge difference in regaining muscle strength in that area. Thanks again for your sensitive handling of this area of female health.

When I came to Brande Moffatt’s office, I was 6 months post birth of my first child. The birth had been traumatizing in more ways than one and had left my pelvic floor in quite a sad state. I had an episiotomy that did not heal correctly which left me needing a repair surgery. Even after the surgery, though, I still experienced a lot of concerns. I had bowel and urinary trouble and a 4-finger diastasis recti that would just not heal.
Coming to see Brande was one of the best decisions of my life. Before I could not pick up my baby or anything much, for that matter, without considerable pain to my pelvic floor. I also had back and hip pain from weakened core, pain with intercourse and with bowel movements. After only a few sessions with Brande, I had considerable improvement in all areas. Before meeting her, I had tried several online programs that promised so much, yet left me even more disappointed than when I began. Not only is Brande extremely knowledgeable in her field, but she is also very approachable and personable. She truly cares for all her patients and you can really feel that in every session.
Since my first birth was so difficult, I had a lot of concerns in having a second child. Because of Brande’s invaluable guidance, I was able to have another natural birth that completely redeemed my first experience of childbirth. Her input and advice was an integral part that enabled me to have the dream birth I had always wanted. I highly recommend her to anyone who has given birth or who is preparing to give birth. She has made a huge impact on my life and I know she will for you too.

Hope restored! After two years of treatment for breast cancer including a double mastectomy, ovary removal, chemotherapy, medically induced menopause and ongoing estrogen suppressant medication, to say that my sexual identity as a woman had “taken a few hits” would be a huge understatement. I came to Brande at a low point, feeling the changes to my sex life were insurmountable. Even though we could not fix the problem of gaining the vaginal depth I lost due to cancer treatment, your suggestions, exercises and recommendations (hooray for the Ohnut!) have made a big difference. Thank you for all that you do. Thank you for being there to help hurting women. You are appreciated more than you know.

Oh, Brande, where do I begin? I am perversely so thankful for the difficult time my little miss CoraJean gave me during pregnancy and delivery because those issues led me to you, and you have significantly changed my life. You have helped me heal from what could have been an absolutely life altering and devastating severe 4th degree tear and 11 weeks of bedrest. You have given me the knowledge and tools I need (many of which I wish I had been given as a young woman when my period began) to maintain and improve my health, from healing from a severe birthing injury, to easing vaginal tightness and muscle spasms in my pelvic floor to releasing decades of muscle tension and tightness in my back and hips. I expected very targeted and clinical treatment, but what I have received has been very kind, therapeutic, knowledgeable, and holistic care.
I appreciate so many things about my visits with you. Perhaps the one that I am most grateful for is the knowledge you have given me about my body and health and that nothing about being female is cause for shame, guilt, or ignorance. You have helped me realize just how lacking my personal knowledge had been and how drastically that ignorance had affected my health, both physically and mentally. Now that I have a young son and daughter, it is extremely important to me that I give them the knowledge and tools they need (and that I didn’t receive until I was 30 and recovering from a severe injury) to help them be healthy, happy, and pain free. I feel that I now have the tools and knowledge to help them grow up with more confidence, knowledge, and empowerment over their health than I did. Thank you.
My only critique would be that you need to clone yourself! You do amazing work in our community and it has such a drastic and positive impact on those who come to you. It takes a very special kind of person to be able to do such intimate work on people who are probably often scared, hurting, and skeptical, but also desperate for help. I have often found myself wondering how different my mother’s health would be if she’d had the opportunity to receive care from you. Much improved I believe. Please, keep up the good work and if you ever need a reminder of how desperately this community needs and values you, ask Lisa how far out she’s having to book appointments!
Lisa – thank you for working with my insurance. I know it isn’t one you frequently work with for various reasons, but I am so appreciative that you have. I also am extremely grateful for your flexibility with payments. It has been a crazy year for us, starting with the government shutdown and no pay during January (we are a U.S. Forest Service family)! You are such an organized, calm presence in the front. It is a pleasure to work with you. Having worked in roles similar to yours, I can appreciate how much work it actually is and just how lovely (sarcasm) the general public can be. Keep up the good work!
Thank you both for everything.

Just wanted to thank you both for making such a huge difference in my life! I really appreciate your willingness to truly listen to what is going, and to use your expertise to actually fix it! I am excited to move forward with the information you’ve given me.
My husband thanks you too!

When I first starting seeing Brande, I could not have sex without experiencing extreme pain during the entire experience and afterwards. The pain started a few months after I gave birth to my daughter by emergency c-section, after a 33 hour labor. Brande made me feel completely at ease in a situation that I would have thought would be impossible to be comfortable with. She has a vast amount of knowledge and was able to figure out what was causing my pain during my first visit. After only about a month, Brande was able to completely reverse my problem. I am so grateful (and so is my husband)! Thank you Brande, you amazing.

I cannot thank Dr. J. Bonnett enough for referring me to Brande Moffatt, MPT, PRPC.
What a difference a few weeks can make. I learned so much about my body from Brande. She is so knowledgeable and explains things in straight forward terms. Very refreshing.
I feared surgery for my condition because of a prior terrifying experience. So, when Dr. Bonnett recommended Women’s Health Physical Therapy, I jumped at the opportunity for a new solution. I had no idea what to expect but I was open to try therapy.
At my age, I had concerns about therapy helping me…..but results are wonderful, and as long as I keep up my exercises everything is wonderful.
Brande and Lisa are great, and I am forever grateful for the care I received. These two women are a blessing.

I was referred to Brande Moffatt, MPT, PRPC by my nurse practitioner in September 2014. I had gone to my nurse practitioner for advice about having a sexual relationship with my new boyfriend. I’m 70 years old and never thought I would be interested in another man and much to my surprise the man of my dreams came into my life and I wanted to be able to please him like any natural women. Years of abstaining had caused atrophy in my vagina and the nurse practitioner said she thought Brande Moffatt would be able to help me, having over fifteen years of experience in pelvic floor dysfunction. It is October, 2014, just one month later, I’m very happy to say that I’ve learned so much, not only about muscles of the vaginal area but about bladder and rectal control and many exercises and therapy that help strengthen the pelvic floor. Thanks to Brande and her staff I’m having a beautiful and meaningful relationship with a wonderful man. Thanks again Brande for everything, especially your knowledge and hands on experience that makes one feel complete trust and confidence to learn how to have a bright, fulfilling future.

I refer to Brande as a miracle worker. There is no other way to describe her. When my doctor referred me to Brande, I thought that I was headed down the surgery road. As a young woman in my thirties, I was in pain and I was extremely scared as the prospect of having to have a major surgery that came with many risks. After working with her, she not only helped me to reverse my condition, but taught me the tools I needed to make sure that I didn't do any further damage to my body with my next pregnancy. Because of Brande, I experience a complete and total healing without surgery, without drugs, without any additional risk to my body. I have also been able to share some of Brande's wisdom with my children, helping to educate them about how to prevent injury with their own bodies. I will forever be grateful to her for her gift and for her dedication to women and women's health.

I have known Brande Moffatt since I moved to Redding 18 years ago. Brande’s work as a pelvic physical therapist has been an immeasurable benefit to our community. Her ability to discern and treat problems, pain, and dysfunction in the pelvic floor is unlike any provider I have ever worked with.
Brande frequently helps her clients recover from surgery faster or avoid surgery altogether with her attention to teaching her clients how to understand and control the musculature, joints, and connective tissue of the pelvis.
It is not an understatement to assert that my patients do better and live better lives because of the work she does.
Sincerely,
Sam Van Kirk, MD FACOG
I have been seeing Brande off and on for nearly a decade. I can honestly say that her work is one of the few things that keeps me upright and functioning. Her professionalism and bedside manner is second to none and she is beyond skilled in her field of study. All of my specialists have remarked on her meticulous notes and her knowledge as a physical therapist. As an added bonus, her office manager ( Lisa) is so helpful and sweet. If you’re in need of this form of physical therapy....don’t hesitate. Call and book with Brande today.

In the midst of a serious downward spiral with my health, Brande was one of the only medical professionals who actually cared about effectively treating my symptoms AND aiding in both an accurate and speedy diagnosis. I saw many specialists who would run a few tests and then pass me off to yet another specialist, but Brande followed my treatment from start to finish and kept detailed records that played an important role in aiding other doctors’ diagnosis of my disorder. She is an out-of-the-box thinker and where other doctors became stumped using their traditional knowledge, Brande helped me to seek out other treatment such as chiropractic and acupuncture that provided more effective and safer than the multiple medications doctors kept throwing at me. I have seen a countless number of doctors and specialists over the course of the last four years, and none impressed me as much as Brande. She is a true healer.
There are so many words I can use, but I couldn’t possibly have the time to find to say thank you from the depths of my heart!
Many would say “they’re just doing their jobs,” but you (both) do it with such love and care! You ladies will always be in my heart.

It has been a long battle but wanted to let you know that what you did for me has made a huge positive impact. I would say from time I met with you to now I am about 95% better. I still have a little trouble sitting for long periods of time which I dont usually do unless we are traveling. We just returned home from our trip to Arizona. The 12 hour drive caused discomfort on my tailbone, but other than that I can sit at times comfortably and without pain or discomfort.
Thank you so much for your help, teaching and care! You are my hero!!!
Since being married, intercourse has been extremely painful for me. It took my husband and I three months before we actually had intercourse. Even after that, it was still very painful and it didn’t seem to matter what I tried. I also felt super alone in my problem because most women said it only hurt the first time- mine had been painful and FAR from enjoyable for almost two years. After my gynecologist referred me to Brande, it still took me 10 months to decide to pull the trigger. I just thought it would always get better on its own. I honestly wasn’t confident that it was something someone else could help with and I was super sensitive about the issue. However, after 6 visits, I graduated with huge progress and success! I AM SO THANKFUL it finally went in! I’m able to have intercourse mostly pain free and each time it gets a little better. A lot of the success is attributed to Brande’s ability to ask good questions and to investigate. No one solution is the same for everyone. Brande was easy to talk to, really listened to my issues, and provided practical tools and treatment that my husband and I are continuing to practice. I left with a lot of hope and encouragement as well as a more pain-free sex life. 100% worth it! Only wish I would have gone in sooner.

I’m sure you hear stuff like this often, or maybe not enough, but you have given me hope again! As anxious as I was to go see you, I felt safe from initial contact. Your warm smile and your (surprisingly) genuine responses reminded me that you are human and have a heart- a Big One.
At my last appointment with you, you mentioned that elephants are your favorite animal. You may know this, but elephants have a really beautiful birthing process where they huddle around the pregnant mother when she is giving birth to protect her and the newborn from predators. They stomp, trumpet and even throw dirt and grass as an act of diversion.
I laughed when I left that day because I think that’s a perfect depiction of you. You come around women ( men and children) when they are vulnerable, scared and weak, and you create a safe place as you “shake the ground” for the purpose of “ new life”, new hope, new ideas, new solutions, new experiences, and new abilities.
You are a beautiful collision of safety, intelligence, beauty, kindness, fun, laughter & passion.
Thank you again for your help. I am blessed to have met you.

Even if you do not think you need Brande, you NEED BRANDE MOFFATT. She has been my life saver since my surgery. She is knowledgeable and compassionate and shares both of those traits with her patients. She not only educates you about your body and condition, but she also shows you how to help yourself for a lifetime. From the first visit, Brande gave me hope and has turned that hope into reality. I share my life changing experience with everyone, anytime I can. Brande Moffatt is truly the best!!

Never would any words on paper fully describe how incredible Brande’s knowledge, wisdom, and compassionate way, but I will share a bit. Entering Brande’s office for the first time is nerve racking for all of us; even me, someone who works in the health industry. Wounded I was, incontinent, pelvic pain that meant, pain sitting, pain squatting, pain urinating, and don’t even mention intimacy with my husband. Three very traumatic births had left me raw, numb, burning, etc., and not just “down there,” but around my belly, legs, lower back, and scar. My anesthesia wore off on the operating table in two of my births, I had separated my pubic symphysis, experienced an umbilical hernia, and I had encountered a hemorrhage that almost took my life, breathing through the incredible pain of hours of something called “bimanual compression” after cesarean, just to name a few of the reasons I was hesitantly entering Brande’s office.
Within the first few minutes of sharing my story with her, her eye welled up with tears for me almost affirming in her gaze that what I had been through in order to have my babies wasn’t what nature had intended. It was ok for me to cry too. As she evaluated me in every way in her oh so comfortable demeanor, and told me her predictions for my future, for the first time I felt like I wouldn’t be broken forever. Like maybe my husband would again be able to make love to me, and I would once again enjoy it. She has a way of making you comfortable when dealing with the most uncomfortable topics.
Sure enough, a short 6 months later, I bounce into her office. I call it “Brande Day:” the day where I get to heal another layer. My incontinence is completely resolved. Any pain I experienced “down there” is relieved. My exercises from her are my daily companions that allow me to feel strong for the first time in 6 years, not just physically but emotionally too. In my opinion, Brande works miracles. She is an absolute gift, and anyone who has the opportunity to see her as a patient will surely see improvements in whatever they are dealing with no matter how embarrassing or traumatizing they may seem. I am essentially pain free, and still improving every day. Her knowledge is astounding. I wish I would have learned 1/10th of what I have learned from her about my pelvis and its functioning when I went to graduate school. I now recommend appointments with Brande to many of the women whom I work with. She has changed my life forever, and for that I will always be grateful.

Brande Moffatt, MPT, PRPC does the most extensive exam and evaluation for pelvic floor issues that I have ever seen. Her reports are always very concise, accurate and informative. I feel as a womens health care provider, Brande does amazing work and offers my patient's hope , help and a chance to heal!
Jana Pratt, PA-C
Our sex life was limited due to pain with penetration, and I had read multiple articles explaining why and how to fix the problem, but nothing worked. I bought dilators on our honeymoon to help the situation, but after a year and a half of consistent use, no progress was made. I completely lost hope for anything more in our sex life. Then my OBGYN suggested Brande Moffatt.
This wasn’t the first time that they’d referred me to Brande, it was just the first time I decided to go through with it. I thought that I could figure this out on my own- I was young, 26, and a lot of my friends said they had pain with sex in the beginning too. I also had plenty of reasons to talk me out of going- embarrassment, finances, stubbornness, shame, and so on. I honestly thought that I just needed to give my dilators more time or that I’d find the perfect step-by-step process online that would fix my problem, but I never did. So about a year later, my OBGYN suggested Brande again. At that point, I was all out of ideas and actually desperate enough in my situation to lay down my pride, make the financial commitment, and set up the appointments.
On my second appointment with Brande, she discovered that my problem was with the connective tissue around my hymen, and as I described the burning tenderness I feel (even after using my dilators), she said, “It won’t be like this forever.” How could she possibly know that already? As much as I wanted to believe her, I couldn’t. A year and a half of throbbing, burning pain during and after penetration had convinced me that she was wrong. But I was. For the first time ever, I feel excited about my sex life and what’s to come.
Looking back, I only wish I would have gone to see Brande sooner because my feelings of hopelessness, disappointment, and shame were replaced with encouragement, hope, and excitement! As uncomfortable as it would seem to be discussing your sexual issues with a total stranger- and to have them actually look and feel around to discover why you’re having these issues- it surprisingly isn’t. Brande exudes a peace and a safety that makes this awkward and vulnerable situation feel almost normal. Which sounds crazy, but it’s true. I was afraid that this investment would be another “dead end” for me, but instead, I felt truly seen. I felt heard. I felt understood. I felt valued. And, after only 4 appointments with Brande, I experienced penetration without pain for the first time!
My husband and I are so thankful for Brande. We could have never anticipated the difference she would make in our lives. While she deals with the pelvic floor dysfunction in your life, she somehow dismantles the dysfunctional lies and beliefs that you’ve clung to as well. She is an anomaly, and it’s 100% clear that this is what she was made to do. If you’re having any doubts about going to see Brande, do yourself a favor, and make it a priority. There is truly no price tag worth what you will gain experiencing Brande and her genuine compassion, her gentle wisdom, and her reliable knowledge. She has changed my life. And I can only imagine how many others. What a legacy.
A letter to a referring Gynecologist from a mutual patient......
Dear Dr. K:
Last year I came to you for a pelvic exam and I complained about my lower back pain and pain with intercourse. You referred me to Brande Moffatt, MPT, PRPC, a physical therapist who deals with women's issues.
I want to thank you and let you know that she has given me my life back. Brande is the first P.T. (and I've had many) who actually listened to my complaints and was able to alleviate most of the pain I've been experiencing for years. Thank you so much for having the knowledge and foresight to refer me to this wonderful therapist. I would recommend Brande Moffatt to anyone who has pelvic floor issues.

I had multiple problems that I couldn't even describe and Brande knew the questions to ask to get to the root of all my issues. I value her as a knowledgeable health professional, a compassionate woman and a trusted friend. She truly sees her patients as a whole, which is hard to find in today's world of specialists. I don't know how she gives 100% of herself to every patient she sees but I honestly feels she does just that. I can't believe how in tune she was with my body. My best advice for new patients is to please be open about your most personal and possibly embarrassing issues so she can help you! All topics are always handled with dignity and care. I thought I was referred to physical therapy for physical health but I was helped emotionally and mentally as well.
The front office manager, Lisa, also played a major part in setting the tone for a caring and comfortable atmosphere. Women's Health PT made a safe place for me when I didn't even know I needed one. My treatment has drastically improved my life and how I deal with chronic pain and I did not know I could have so much relief. Thank you for giving me the tools to take care of myself for years to come.

Brande’s knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor and pelvic floor disorders is quite impressive. She has exceptional standards of care and frequently quotes research articles that support the work she does.

For the first time in years I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have already learned more in two visits with Brande than I have in years with other medical professionals. This has truly been life changing.

I was truly amazed at how much Brande changed my life in just a few visits. I have a whole new way of approaching exercises since she taught me about my pelvic floor.

I am so grateful Brande Moffatt has her practice open to both men and women. Our culture is loaded with expressions for men like “ suck it up” or “hunker down and deal with it”, and the myth that those aches and pains are just a permanent part of aging. Brande has an amazing ability to break through the mind and help a patient see the long term corrections that can be made with very focused educated adjustments to your daily exercise. You have to be open to change— and what a difference it can make. I am in my mid-fifties and boy did my “body” need a tune up. I know that it is not easy to change, but with the right guide like Brande, you can acquire the knowledge of how to do it. “Working smarter not harder” has been a game changer for me. Thank you Brande and your team!
